The ambience is very nice and the service is good but don't expect things to be as you may be used to. For example, my husband ordered a mole sauce dish and instead of Molé the sauce was made with beans. It was different, but not in a good way. I had the Kraken Chile Rellano and it was tasty. It had nice squash base and not too much cheese with a nice lighter traditional sauce. We will return to try some of their other dishes. You may want to try happy hour as well.

Staff was so attentive and really upbeat! The food was fun and unique! Love the new location! Just bummed that they stopped offering their Michelada that was on the menu! It was so good.... :( Definitely will return!

I was very impressed with our meal at Mr. Q Restaurant! The restaurant is small, but we were seated immediately on a Friday evening. The place looks chic with pictures of nyc and Paris as the main decor. They are located on the Main Street in Atascadero, with only street parking. They also charge a surcharge when using a credit card. Service: Service was great and food came out quickly. Food was excellent! Food: The group got the mango ceviche to start, which came as a fairly large portion. They were even kind enough to bring extra chips when we asked. They are Taco Works chips, which are a local staple to the central coast and so delicious! For my entree, I got the Chile Rellano over white rice. It was jam packed with flavor, filled with pulled pork, veggies, cheese, mango and drowned in a creamy jalapeño sauce. It wasn't overly spicy and it was a very different dish. My husband got the pork chop and it was huge! I didn't get to try it, but he enjoyed it. Would definitely come back here when visiting the central coast.

Visited the new location and it was a great experience. The food here is very delicious and the service is very attentive. The owner greeted us after we sat down. We ate at their old place a few times and it was always delicious, but now that they are right across from sunken gardens, is easy to combine dinner and other fun things to do in downtown A-town. We ordered ceviche and margaritas to start. Then the house steak enchiladas and chile relleno. The sauces are just so great vs most Mexican styles ya find. We will be back! + a star for the new location!

Absolutely amazing. We loved going to their old locations. It has always been one of top spots. Their new location is beautiful and we are so happy for them. You just have to try some of their very original dishes. Fresh and vibrant flavors. Their homemade sangria is super tasty and I love their mango margaritas. Always good service. When they ask you soup or salad.. go with the soup. Creamy..savory poblano soup.

First time, hadn't tried DonQ's either. Pretty impressed. A good line of people lined up but they fit us in quickly. Server was nice, and other staff were very quick to answer questions. The shrimp enchilada was terrific, medium sized portion but they were thick with an orange chipotle cream sauce. Rice and beans on the side with Mexican cheese on top. My wife had the stuffed poblano with potatoes and chorizo. It was spicy with some good kick. Staff were extraordinarily alert and checking on us. It has a metro feel inside and a little loud but not bad. Overall Great experience.

They've moved locations and changed the name slightly, but the food is still absolutely PHENOMENAL! Ordered to-go this time around and the food was hot, delicious and just as amazing as all of the other times before they moved locations (which was a sigh of relief)! Highly recommend the El Charro Enchiladas, Habana Steak & Shrimp, and the El Patron Chile Relleno. Make sure to get their side soup as it is (still) one of the best we've ever tasted. One of our ALL TIME favorite restaurants in SLO County! Thanks, Mr. Q!

First of all, thank God for Yelp on road trips, right?!?! We've all been there...driving for hours on end and then realizing that it's a necessity to stop for sustenance so that you can make it to your destination. Anyway, thanks YELP And WOW...what a TREAT this place is! Kind of divey-looking, down some random alley. But damn it's amazing. Beautiful presentation, totally awesome staff, quick service, thoughtful recommendations, clean setting, excellent plating...portion size was spot-on... I'm just so impressed. I had the El Charro tacos (Al pastor) with the pineapple on the side and with corn tortillas instead of flour. They were perfect in every way. The jalapeño cream sauce was something I could drink out of a glass...so tasty. Way to go, Atascadero! Can't wait for the drive back up the coast in two days! Stellar.
